Catalans Jordi Purtí and Toni Albà tear traditional barriers down in a crazy, original and moving presentation of opera. Neither opera nor theater, this visual show offers up the most famous opera arias as opportunities to laugh or stir emotions: from West Side Story to Carmen, including The Barber of Seville, opera is parodied with an explosion of imagination. Visual gags fly back and forth on the stage. The five actors bend over backwards to compose the hundred or so characters of a wordless show, in a cascade of sketches that rival each other in their absurdity. Hop!éra is a unique experience, an unorthodox show that will make music lovers and neophytes laugh, showing each one the infinite scope of emotions that opera can offer.
